Charlie Travis

FOUNDER, POSITIVE THINKER, IDEA DEVELOPER, HAPPINESS ENTHUSIAST, INSPIRATIONAL QUOTE LOVER

"I grew up in Blowing Rock and it was a sleepy little summer town then. You knew everybody and we all looked after each other. We missed a lot of school in the 1960's because it snowed all winter long," Charlie reminisces on early days. Charlie is a man of many talents including auctioneer, entrepreneur, father, friend and husband. He holds a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Business Administration from Appalachian State. However, his most important and loved task at VJ is not about the business but rather helping others. His favorite stones include sapphires and diamonds for their properties of wisdom, strength of character and purity. The most treasured item in his personal collection is his 22K gold wedding band in an ancient Greek Design. In his spare time Charlie enjoys a multitude of activities including acting as a 1st responder for the National Ski Patrol, gardening, hiking, riding motorcycles, exercise, bible study and design and building.

Charlie Handley

JEWELRY SALES AND SERVICE PROFESSIONAL, KNOWN AS "THE OTHER CHARLIE" OR SOMETIMES "CHARLIE # 2".

"I grew up an army brat until my father retired to Beech Mountain in 1973. Though not considered a native, after 50 years I think that I can be called a local. My wife Margaret and I raised our two daughters Margot and Julia in Foscoe. Our daughters have both flown the coop and we have made the the big move from Foscoe to Boone. I have a Bachelors in architecture from the design school at NCSU. After a long career offering my services in architectural design, my old ski patrol buddy Charlie Travis offered me a job learning about jewelry. I'm excited to be learning all about the world of jewelry and amazed by the talented people I work with. I enjoy hiking, climbing, kayaking and just about any activity that get me outdoors."
